Job Description
Overall responsibility of Technical (design and code) Quality of Makemytrip’s high-calibre development team
Create a blueprint and roadmap of Makemytrip’s next generation application architecture based on Makemytrip’s business vision of offering a best-of-breed user experience powered by a extendable, componentized architecture
Lead and leverage Makemytrip’s Platform Group in identifying, designing and creating components, libraries and frameworks aligned with next-generation architectural blueprint and product roadmap. Evangelizing use of these libraries and frameworks across vertical development teams
Work closely with CTO in continuously refining processes to facilitate production of high quality, scalable modules by vertical development teams
Create design and coding practices guidelines to be followed by team
Provide periodic technology stack and best practices (design and coding) training to developers to bridge knowledge and process gaps
Lead review committee to guide, course-correct and enforce following of best software development practices as per pre-defined guidelines
Be the primary source of innovations leveraging cutting edge technologies and frameworks in the open source / Java world to augment Makemytrip’s website platform and user interfaces
Desired Candidate Profile
B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science / Engineering (MS preferred) with 8+ years of experience
Proficient in Object Oriented Design and programming (Java) and well-versed with best of breed programming practices and standards
5+ years experience in working with open source systems and frameworks like Linux, Tomcat and Mysql
Proficiency (3+ years experience) in Spring, Struts2, Hibernate and JUnit
2+ experience in designing and developing Rich Internet user interfaces using Ajax libraries like YUI, Prototype or ExtJs
Track record of designing and developing multi-tiered large scale web-based n-tier applications preferably involving information retrieval and caching sub-systems
High personal and professional maturity level and team player abilities (ability to create synergy and evangelize)
Small learning curve, inquisitiveness and ability to contribute and absorb in a continuous learning environment
Project management skills required to deliver turnkey projects using cutting edge (sometimes unproven) technologies
