The person in this position should have good skills in building and working with databases (RDBMS and SQL), strong scripting skills (Perl) and ability to program in Java/Webaps/C or C++ and a reasonable working knowledge of biology. In addition, experience with various bioinformatics databases and tools like BLAST, sequence alignment and sequence analysis software is expected. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to perform cutting work in a fast-paced emerging area in a high-energy environment. Experience in statistical analysis and expression data analysis will be a plus.
Job Description
To help with help with development of tools needed for management and analysis of Sanger Sequence data. The candidate will be responsible for developing programs and pipelines for primer generation and automation of sequence data analysis, including scripts for robotics and DNA sequencing lab LIMS. Additionally, the candidate will help with bioinformatics projects, both infrastructure and development of scientific database content as needed. You will have an opportunity to collaborate with wet lab scientists on various projects and be able to publish.
