Year Establishment 1993

Company Profile

HealthScribe India Ltd is a joint venture between Max India LImited, one of India's leading multi-business corporations, and US based HealthScribe Inc. Incorporated in 1992 as an offshoot of Kriya Systems with headquarters in Virginia, HealthScribe Inc currently has an annualised turnover in excess of $25 million and is among the three largest players in the Medical Transcription industry in the US. HealthScribe pioneered the medical transcription industry in India by incorporating in 1993. It commenced its operations in Bangalore in early 1996, as a subsidiary of HealthScribe Inc. HealthScribe India was the first medical transcription company in the country to provide both training as well as employment to medical transcriptions. The company initially set up its operation in the outskirts of Bangalore at Electronics City. At the time, in order to have access to satellite communications, a business needed to be located in Electronic City, the site of the Bangalore 'earth stations'. Here the fledging operation concentrated on hiring, training and developing the first groups of medical transcriptionists in India. The quality and completeness of the training and the newly deployed technology were thoroughly tested. Being the initial medical transcription company in India, potential employees also were tested to determine if HealthScribe really represented a viable career for them. The facilities were somewhat basic. Eventually development of microwave transmissions throughout Bangalore permitted companies using satellite communications to locate closer into the centure of the city. Once HealthScribe had passed the 'proof of concept' stage HealthScribe moved, in late 1998, to a state-of-the-art office complex in Koramangala, about 10 minutes from the Bangalore airport.
