Desired Candidate Profile

5 years experience in Oracle PL\SQL (for Genesis system),Visual Basic 6 / Visual Basic.NET,SQL Server (for SAPP system)
5 years experience of working in Life and Pensions sector
Experience of working with a UK or US company , Has a combination of IT support and IT project delivery experience. Understands the principles of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
Strong team player able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, must have the ability to engage the target audience both in writing and verbally.
Excellent analytical skills, must have proven ability to analyse both technical / non-technical data, translate it and present practical solutions
Ability to analyse complex problems, some of which will be in unfamiliar areas.
Able to effectively liaise and converse between technical and business communities.
Able to proactively work independently or lead a team of analyst programmers.
Able to balance conflicting demands in order to reach a solution that meets business requirements whilst being cost effective.
Shows potential leadership skills by demonstrating the ability to inspire and energise others by gaining respect and trust.

To provide technical solutions, lead development teams, to build & unit test quality code that meet specified requirements.
Where required use functional documents and high level designs to produce signed off Detailed Technical Specs subjected to full review process, where appropriate following configuration standards.
Carry out or co-ordinate major / complex application programming to deliver agreed IT solutions. Where relevant ensuring system testing is completed.
Work with Team Leader to provide estimates for the plan and, where appropriate, to allocate work amongst the team.
Monitor the work of other team members by reviewing the work of team members to ensure it is in keeping with the requirements specified in the Detailed Technical Spec.
Produce signed off specifications and unit test plans (where applicable) for development work.
Ensure code is thoroughly unit tested prior to promotion to Workstream testing.
Co-ordinate and input to impact assessment process.

Documentation
Written to Team standards, peer review, & sign off where required.
Keep documents up to date and consistent with plan.
Support Project Life Cycle.
Provide walkthroughs, demos, when required, to business or IT to their satisfaction.
Provide information for project initiation stages (reports, boards and forums), attending if required.
Provide support to other teams in a timely manner.
Support other team members by actively participating and resolving issues.
Provide input into review of test strategies & scenarios documented by testers.
Remain fully aware of the progress of the project from Detailed Technical Spec through to implementation.
Be responsible for the definition, documentation and approval of all entry / exit criteria relating to all systems analysis, build and test stages of the development life cycle.
Carry out Configuration Management tasks on the project as required.
Actively monitor, support and maintain Production systems, projects and, undertaking testing if required.
Fix problems in a timely manner, labelling code correctly and closing CR’s.

Monitor system performance post implementation and in production proactively recommending technical improvements where considered beneficial.
Where appropriate carry out System testing, assist with UAT, obtain post implementation sign-off, providing estimates where appropriate.
Proactively work to identify improvements to existing processes, systems and data.
Proactively engage projects to manage change together.
Ensure that all Service Level Agreements are adhered to
Act as an Acceptance and Readiness Representative in support of change.
Provide estimates and options for live problem resolution.
Teamwork and developing team members through training and mentoring.
Build effective relationships with Technical Managers, IT teams and Capita Change by maintaining regular contact through the full project life cycle or with regard to production issues.
Work closely with the client, Capita Change and Operations stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of high-level business requirements. Maintaining regular contact through the full project life cycle or with regard to production issues.
Build effective relationships with other team members by making yourself available for enquires and advice and by ensuring that they are aware of project goals.
Identify and advise the Project / Support Manager of the IT resource and skill level requirements to meet the deliverables.
Provide consultancy to other project teams.
Mentor other team members by reviewing mod or code specs, unit test plans and where required code review.
Actively develop the knowledge of others, taking a lead role in organising and delivering workshops and training.
Proactively work with the Capita Change and testers to ensure the overall design minimises coding and testing complexity whilst still meeting the demands of the business.
Allow other team members to take on more difficult tasks to extend their knowledge.
Ensure that other team members are aware of technical changes made to ensure adequate support coverage post-implementation.
Promote and lead by example, adherence to the company’s core values and key performance indicators.
Understand and adhere to Capita’s Code of Conduct and, where appropriate, comply with all relevant regulatory policies. This includes completion of any mandatory training requirements.

Reporting Progress.
Record work done by completing timesheets, working to plan and informing Project Manager/Leads of any unplanned tasks so that the plan can be updated to reflect this.
Report progress against the plan and resolve / escalate any issues, where appropriate.
Feed any risks identified into the overall plan.
