Company Profile
Texas Instruments India Pvt. Ltd (TI India) started its operations in Bangalore in August, 1985, as a strategic move to enhance Texas Instruments' (TI Inc.) presence in the Asia/Pacific region. The initial activity of TI India was to develop and support of TI’s proprietary electronic design automation (EDA) software systems used for integrated circuit (IC) design by TI's semiconductor design centers worldwide. This activity involved development of applications for creating, simulating, testing and verifying both logical and physical IC manufacturing process. In 1988, a design center for mixed-signal IC's was established at TI India as extension to TI's existing mixed-signal design activities worldwide. Following the successful startup of the center, design activities supporting TI's application specific products were initiated in 1990. In 1995, TI India started a design center for designing digital signal processor (DSP) cores for applications in hard disk drives. In March 1998, TI India announced the launch of the first DSP designed entirely in TI India by Indian engineers. In 1998, TI India also announced the industry’s first programmable resolution analog to digital Converter. In 1999, TI India announced the launch of xStream DSP (™) technology for high speed printer applications, and Monet, world's first G.Lite Codec. In March 2000, TI India announced the launch of Mantra (TMS320C 2800), a DSP core optimised for motor control applications. The same year it announced the launch of Damini family of mixed signal devices that support the emerging digital visual interface (DVI) standard for high-speed interfaces to high-resolution digital displays. In early 2001, TI India announced the opening of a center for design of 3G wireless chipsets and a center for developing wireless LAN chipsets. In August 2004, TI India moved to its own R&D facility in Bangalore.
