Business Continuity
OPI has detailed business continuity planning procedures that contribute to its overall disaster recovery plan. All devices, services, locations, and personnel within the OPI network are taken into consideration. Key areas of consideration are:
WAN Redundancy Plan: All of OPI’s network links are protected by certain redundancies. Whether a second circuit is provisioned or an encrypted VPN tunnel is established, all OPI facilities have more than one connection between them. When more than one circuit is provisioned, the second line is always provisioned by a different carrier, terminates to a separate demarcation point, and is connected to separate equipment.
LAN Redundancy Plan: OPI maintains an inventory of off-line spare switching equipment at each location to replace equipment in the event of a hardware failure. All workstation areas are equipped with dual network runs. Should a primary run fail or become problematic, the workstation can be switched to the secondary line. OPI’s Bangalore facility maintains an inventory of off-line, preconfigured workstations which can be deployed to replace any faulty desktop.
Processing Facility Redundancy: OPI maintains mutual contracts with other local Bangalore businesses to utilize their facilities in the event of a disaster to our processing center. A call distribution tree is organized to inform all employees of such events.
Data Backup: All enterprise data is backed up to a centralized system. Each system’s data backup policy is different as defined by the business continuity planning. Weekly tapes are removed from the datacenter and stored with Iron Mountain. Data recovery procedures and network device configuration hard copies are stored in on and off site binders.
